Gosling got to pick the jam flavor some months back and choose orange marmalade. Turns out he (nor anyone else) likes orange marmalade, so in the fridge it sits.

I only buy or make plain yogurt and we add our own jam or fruit or granola to it as it suits us.

Today he decided to give the orange marmalade a second shot, but deemed it still too much tasting of orange peel. This afternoon, while preparing a snack, he decided to get the strainer for the electric juicer out and strain the peel out of the yogurt/ marmalade concoction he had mixed up to improve the flavor.

Sadly, it still treated of orange peel. When his dad found him hand washing all the dishes, he complimented Gosling on his attempt to work through the problem.

“You can tossle my hair now, if you want, Daddy.”

I was having a near perfect day. Great coffee, a few errands, a couple of chores, lunch with a friend, finished the prework for a quilt class I’m taking this weekend, kids both had outstanding days at school, they cleaned the bathroom when we got home, we had a snack, watched part of a movie, read books, did a little rough housing, had dinner on the stove when Mike walked in, was doing the 2 minute update and hand off to Mike before leaving to the last tutoring session with my favorite student, when my 4 yo strode into the kitchen nonchalantly with blood red hands.

Suffice it to say, red tie dye is not finger paint, no matter what you call it or how you use it, and I was late for work.
