Not Dead Yet

Tim once asked if I’d forgotten my username and/or password and that’s why I hadn’t updated in a while. Well, that was only part of the problem this time.
Apparently Some Upgrading was done and it broke Some Stuff. The way this manifested itself was by telling me I had an invalid login. Well, I tried this password and that password, no luck. Then I thought maybe I used a different login and tried a few permutations of that, each with all possible passwords. When I finally decided it couldn’t possibly be my forgetfulness, I checked google. Sure enough, I was not the Only One.
So I set about to fix things in the manner in which other people had been successful, to no avail. Nothing was working the way random people on the internet with tenuous grasps of the English language had managed to make things work.
At the end of my rope, I contacted my SysAdmin. Apparently a perl upgrade caused some tangled links and my previous working state was a delicate balance of broken things. When the upgrade happened, it all collapsed.
He rules. He fixed it in about 5 minutes.
When I get another few minutes to post, I’ll try and remember why I was trying to log in in the first place. :)

That sounds approximately like my Linux experience.
